Car Dealers Scams: Buying With Bad Credit
A lot of car buyers who have bad credit or no credit at all risk to become a victim of different auto dealer scams. This happens mainly because people with a bad don’t have a lot of options to find financing when they buy a car. The only way for them to get a loan for their new car is to finance the vehicle through the car dealer. It should be noted that sometimes deals offered by car dealers are not that bad, but if you plan to use a car dealer loan you should be very careful, because the car dealer may easily trick you.
There a few things to be especially careful about. The first and the most important is to make sure that the interest rate in your contract is fixed. This way you can make sure that the car dealer will not be able to change the interest rate stated in your contract. It is a common practice for car dealers to approve your car loan application, make you sign the documents and give you the car. However, later you may receive a call and the dealer will inform you that you do not qualify for this loan because you are with a bad credit (which you already know anyway) and that you will have to pay higher interest rates. The best way to avoid this car scam is to either try to find financing from another place or report this scam and fight back.
Another common car scam used by car dealers is to make you find a co-signer for your loan. The car dealer will assure that this is the only way to get finance since you have a bad credit history. But later, after signing the contract you will find out that the loan in the name of the “co-signer”, though you will still have to pay for it.
